Several factors can cause women with ovarian cancer to gain weight. Tumors are the major cause. Ovarian tumors are buried deep within the abdomen. They often arenвt discovered until theyвre relatively large. They can cause some abdominal discomfort in the early stages of ovarian cancer, but can be mistaken for a stomachache or another nonthreatening condition.
Tumors grow and cancer spreads, taking up more space inside the
if left untreated. Tumors can grow quite large before causing symptoms. This is because the uterus is designed to hold a fetus. Deposits of cancerous cells 2 centimeters or more are often found in the abdomen during.
Constipation is another cause of weight gain. This can occur when the cancerous growth on the ovaries spreads to other parts of the uterus and abdomen and presses against the. This interferes with normal digestion. Fluid can build up as tumors grow in or on the ovaries and cancerous cell deposits spread to nearby organs.
I have been diagnosed with a 4cm ovarian cyst. I also have a very big stomach which I cannot shift even though I have been working hard at the gym 4 times a week. My legs and arms are quite toned but there s nothing I can do for my stomach. Is this fat or is it swollen from the cyst? My consultant doesn t seem to think it s connected to the cyst because it s only 4cm but I can t work out why my stomach is so big!
I know it sounds trival but it s really getting me down as none of my clothes fit any more and nothing I seem to do seems to help lose the stomach fat. Can anyone help? Has anyone been in a similar position?
